MARIE-JOSÉE LÉVESQUE, Artistic Director and Founder

Veteran circus artist and accomplished businesswoman MARIE-JOSÉE LÉVESQUE started out her athletic career very young, as a trampoline champion in her native province of Quebec. It was the circus, however, that captured her heart. Ever since her international debut with Cirque du Soleil, Marie-Josée has stuck to her dream, bringing circus arts out of the big top and into the real world, close to the audience.

With a career that now spans over three decades, two of which spent at the head of her own company, Cirque Fantastic, Marie-Josée has brilliantly brought that dream to life. She has performed and produced shows in the four corners of the world, as part of prestigious events and festivals. Her close associates and collaborators recognize her professionalism, generosity and sensitivity as an artist and producer - rare assets in such a demanding industry.

Marie-Josée always meets new challenges with the same energy and passion. Among her more recent accomplishments, designing and producing multidisciplinary shows for cruise ships have occupied a lot of her time since 2013. Partnering with Celestyal Cruises, she has moved the circus life on board three ships (the Crystal, the Olympia and the Nefeli), travelling between Cuba, Jamaica, Greece and Turkey with no less than twelve different shows, each with a strong accent on circus arts.
